As I was saying to my mom earlier, what is all this talk about unity, all of us being one, togetherness? If anything, America is the land of the individual, all of us pursuing our own American dream. Now all of a sudden it is unity, unity, unity. Regardless, I am all for loving your neighbor, not promoting hate towards one another. But really, I’m sure that we can all have our differences and it will still be okay. Politics wouldn’t be politics if there were different sides, that is just how it is. And as I have grown through my second presidential election, I feel even more compelled to root myself in the place I want to be.

Also, I’d like to give myself props for throwing it together in 5 mins, having very minimal makeup, and actually having my hair done today.

Just saw Amos Lee at the Bluenote.
I got a call at 915 after he had already started his set, and drove down there to see most of the show. Good times!
Now I’m so tired and must shower and get to bed.

Just rolling in.
Tonight after I got home after being out for 12 hrs, it was a shower, episode of the hills, then throwing on a tank, comfy fleece, braids, floppy hat, scarf, rocket dogs, and heading to McNallys for 1$ pints of Killians Irish red (I almost drank 2) and a free lemon drop shot. Gab and I got some Steak and Shake drive through after I followed her to the car shop and drove her home. I have to be at work in 8 hrs, but I will make it. I need to attend to some house chores before bed.
Despite the craziness that was the latter part of the day, I had a lot of good conversations with people today, both on the phone and in person. I like it when the walls can just come down and we can be ourselves and have informed discussions, even if we don’t agree, as long as we can voice our points of view and laugh and enjoy each other, that is what it is all about.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the week (and next weekend….for real!)
I will promise to blog more.
Time for bed now, let’s hope I make it before 1:30

The person we are with our parents is not the person we are with our girlfriends is not the person we are with a first date is not the person we are with our long-term boyfriend. It’s all us, of course, but different facets of us.”

- Julia Allison. This part of her post kind of summed it up for me. I think about this from time to time, how we are around different people and the perception they may have of me. Especially in the era of blogs and facebook. We put ourselves out there for the world to see, and we interact with so many different people or different levels. I feel like I am always being true to myself, but out of human nature we have to carry ourselves differently around different people.
